First off let me welcome you to Kick Your Computer. I appreciate your time looking at our website.
My name is Scott and I am the owner of Kick Your Computer. I have been repairing computers for the last 10 years at several different companies. I started out at a public school and a non-profit corporation. I moved on to the newspaper industry for several years. From there I went on to a large university and finally a large set of used car dealerships.
The one thing that has never changed, no matter where I have worked, was the need of quality computer repair work done at affordable prices. No one wanted to pay the ridiculous prices of the national repair chains. Those chains would keep their computers for weeks at a time because they would ship them to a central repair station somewhere on the west coast. Even I felt the sting of this with warranty replacement work for a laptop I had purchased at one of these repair chains.
I cannot count the number of times I have heard someone say they wanted to kick their computer or throw it out the window; how many times I have seen someone so frustrated they just throw their hands up in the air and walk away from their computer; and how many times I've heard of people going to get their morning glass of coffee while they were waiting for their computers to start.
For the last 8 years I have done work on the side of the main jobs I have held. My original company was called Reese's Consulting and was based out of Kalamazoo. Michigan. However, with my latest job I was transplanted to Jackson. I have lived in Jackson for more than 2 years now and see that the need for quality affordable work is just as high here as it was in Kalamazoo, maybe even higher. With the change of location I changed the business name to "Kick Your Computer."
I am just starting out my company here in Jackson and am looking forward to working with the citizens and business of Jackson County.
Because of my experience with the different kinds of businesses I am able to offer support tailored to business needs. I know how to plan for disaster and how to implement safeguards to keep from losing your important business data. I know how to plan networking and run the cables; setup connections between multiple locations; even negotiating with different providers to ensure the best price for the service received.
Having been in the business world has not shielded me from the blight of home computer users. Many of the problems in the business world are just as bad in the rest of the world. People lose important data, they get viruses and spyware, and they decide to buy new computers as well.
When starting up this business I decided that I would help people who just bought a new computer start out on the right foot. I will set their computer up, remove all the extra unneeded software, and show them how to hook it up properly at home. Most importantly I decided to do this as a free service for any brand new computer as long as it is done in the office. Unfortunately, I am not always in my office so an appointment needs to be set to take advantage of this service. If you are interested more details are available on our services page.
Because of my availability I have partnered with local businesses to have locations for my customers to drop their computers off and have them repaired. When they are repaired I will drive the computer to the owner's home and deliver it to them. While there I will spend the time to hook their back up for them free of charge. If the customer lives more than 20 miles away, I will have to charge a small delivery fee to pay for the trip to their homes.
On top of everything else I also enjoy teaching people how to use their computer and other programs I may know. I spend time with a lot of individuals just teaching them how to use their computers. I teach parents what to watch for when their children use the computer; I also show them how to make the internet a safer place for their children. As a parent I cannot stress how important it is to know what your kids are doing on the computer and how to protect them from the many dangers the internet poses. In the future I plan on getting together with local churches and other groups to offer free classes on Sunday afternoon to educate parents on what options are out there for them to know what their children are doing on the computer.
I look forward to helping the Jackson community and I hope they are willing to help my small business grow so I can continue to help more people.
